Case Study : Analysing Passive Design Strategies
In Building Science ! project : Case Study, we are to choose a building that best features 2 passive designs strategy for tropical climate. We are to select a building either from Malaysia or Singapore. After choosing the building, we will then have to do research of the building and identify 2 passive designs strategies used by the building. After that, we are to produce 2 analysis boards that contain all the findings we did.
Through this project, I am able to gain new software skills such as Revit and Ecotect. These softwares are very helpful for me as I would use these softwares for my research and designs.
From this project, I have also gained much understanding of passive designs and how they function in order to reduce direct solar radiation towards the building as well as cooling the building to reach the thermal comfort of building users.
These new learnt knowledges are very useful and important to me as it helps me in improve my building designs in terms of how to reduce energy energy ysed as well as how to cool the building without using mechanica machineries.
As for the application of the software, I did not use any of it however I have used the knnowledge gained through Building Science 1 such as sunpath, shading devices, the orientation of buildings to reduce direct sun solar radiation and materials selection with the aid of u-value calculation are all used to aid my design in the Architectural Design Studio 3.
